Logitech: Google TV a ‘mistake’

So much for Google ruling the world of the set top box. Logitech CEO Guerrino De Luca pulled the plug on Google TV. Jessica Guynn in the LA Times:

Logitech Chief Executive Guerrino De Luca is writing off Google TV as a “big mistake.” He said Logitech will stop producing its Revue set-top boxes, which enable televisions to receive Internet video.

That was quick. What now? Motley Fool’s Rick Munarriz:

It’s hard to argue with De Luca’s painful assessment. Google owes Logitech an apology, though what would be even better is if it finally takes Google TV to the next level to make Logitech regret that it ever left.

Apple TV, anyone? All it would take to change the face of television forever is for every network and every TV station to have an app that runs on iPhone, iPad, Android devices, and on modern, internet-equipped TVs.
