MacBook owners know all to well what happens when you least expect it. The Mac goes to sleep. We can control the Mac’s sleep patterns by fiddling with the System Preferences > Energy Saver controls, but there are times when you want the Mac to sleep on schedule, and other times when you don’t want it to sleep.
Here’s the example that comes to mind. You’re on the road and watching a movie on your Mac. Woosh. The Mac decides to go to sleep. It’s simple enough to open the Energy Saver controls and adjust the sleep time, but it’s just as easy to forget to reset them once you’re ready to move on to something else. Your Mac’s battery begins to lose power needlessly.
Enter Stay Awake. This inexpensive Mac utility gives you a quick Menubar access to the stay awake time for both the Mac’s screen and system.
Move the slider bar to the time you want to keep your Mac awake, then click the Stay Awake button.
That’s it. Simple and sweet. Click the Quit button and your Mac uses the awake settings in System Preferences again.
It’s an elegant app that lets you control the sleep time without bothering with your Energy Saver settings.
