A friend has sent you a link to the following article: http://mcsolo.com/index.php/mcsolo/articles/708/ How many applications, utilities, and games do you have on your Mac? How do you manage the updates? How do you delete unneeded apps? How do you track app serial numbers and registrations? So many questions. One very good answer. AppZapper. Zap Me, Elmo! AppZapper is a Mac utility which makes it easier and safer to delete applications from your Mac. The premise is simple. Launch AppZapper. Drag an application’s icon from the Finder to the AppZapper window. AppZapper checks for related files, often scattered all over your Mac’s inner folders. You’re one click away from deleting the application and related preference and support files, making for a cleaner, healthier Mac. Eye Candy, Meet Utility AppZapper has always been a decent file deleter, but the latest version adds a few much needed features. The Main window now displays all the applications, games, utilities, Dashboard Widgets, and 3rd party System Preference Pane utilities. Sort your Mac’s apps by Application name, size, Used Since date, or Not Used date. Click on the icon of any application to reveal the associated files. For zapping purposes, AppZapper is decent, though I prefer CleanApp (which monitors your Mac for file additions and changes, and deletes files not found by AppZapper), but something of a one trick pony. Loading up your Mac with many apps, games, and utilities also means keeping track of serial numbers and registration numbers. The new AppZapper manages that, too. Drag an application icon to the MyApps window. Click an icon and enter registration information or serial numbers. It’s an easy and elegant way, including animated eye candy, to capture purchase information, publisher name, and license information. AppZapper is an excellent example of a new breed of Mac applications which use eye candy in conjunction with useful functions and features. If you subscribed to one of the MacHeist Mac software bundles, the update to AppZapper 2.0 is free.
