Facebook and Twitter have a few things in common. Besides being used by tens of millions of people worldwide, Twitter has plenty of third party apps, Facebook, not so much. Those Twitter apps help to make using Twitter more efficient and productive.
Twitterrific for Mac is the Twitter apps that’s actually better than the official Twitter app (which suffers from some kind of iPhone inspired visual leprosy).
One look at Twitterrific’s screen and you know what’s going on in the Twitterverse. One click displays all the tweets in your timeline, including a timer in the right corner which tells you how recent the last tweets are. It’s one click to Mentions, one to Favorites, one to Messages.
The latest Twitter trends are a click away, too.
Character count works as you type, of course. Search is built-in, not hidden. Even the Sidebar collapses with a quick drag.
Twitterrific handles multiple Twitter accounts for family, business, and late night superhero personas. Tweets can be color-coded. URL shortening is built-in. So is Instapaper, Cloud.app, Instagram, and video and photo uploading.
Preferences give you options for auto refresh time, font sizes, multiple accounts, upload, URL, and bookmarking services, as well as hot key and Growl notifications.
You can follow, unfollow, retweet, reply, email, and report spammers with a click. I love the little tweet sound effect when new tweets arrive. If you’re an iDevice fanatic, there’s Twitterrific for iPhone and iPad.
More colored themes would be nice. Twitterrific is limited to light and dark. And, this would be the best feature ever– scheduled tweets. Tweet, set a time for delivery, god do something else. I’ll pay extra for that.
