Sears was once the largest retailer in the US, long ago overshadowed and overtaken by Walmart. To get in on the trendy shopper, Sears plans to equip store salespeople with iPads and customers with free Wi-Fi. From Tricia Duryee in AllThingsD.
Associates will be able to tap the screen to check available inventory, order products online and access product information and videos, right where the customer is standing.
Move over Starbucks.
Sears will also be offering free Wi-Fi to customers so they can use their own smartphones or tablets to surf the Web, shop online or compare prices before they purchase.
It will be fun to watch what Sears employees do with their iPads. Maybe they’ll use Find My Friends so we can use our iPhones to track down an employee when we have a question.
