Trends in photography come and go frightfully fast. It’s as if teenaged girls are in control of the latest fads in photography. The latest is Cookie Cutter. Unfortunately, it’s exactly what you think it is. Photos that look like they were cropped with a cookie cutter.
As photo enhancement apps go, Cookie Cutter couldn’t be easier to use. If you’ve ever seen a real cookie cutter in the kitchen (those metal or plastic shapes which cut fresh cookie dough into shapes) then apply the same concept to your photos.
Instant photos in the design of popular cookie cutter shapes are simple to create and print out.
Using Cookie Cutter is simple, too. Open the app, select a cookie cutter design, drop in a photo, adjust the size to match the design (zoom in or out, crop as needed), and Cookie Cutter does the rest.
It comes with more than four dozen cookie cutter shapes like hearts, stars, trees, bells, animals, flowers, and many others. Each shape can be stretched or reduced to fit your photo.
You choose the background colors (choose transparent and the cookie cutter photo prints onto colored paper).
I have no doubt that some Mac users may find Cookie Cutter to be a cleverly done app which creates great looking photos for parties, weddings, anniversaries, graduations, or family members with modest tastes.
This is one trend in photography that I won’t mind when it fades away.
