They say speed kills. So does noise. Well, if it doesn’t kill, it helps. Noise is everywhere and growing. If it’s not beeps and buzzes from our iDevices, it’s neighbor noise, street noise, and worse. Noise disrupts concentration and sleep.
They also say to fight fire with fire. That’s what Noise Machine does. It creates noise. But it’s the kind of noise that blocks out other noise. Think of it as your Mac’s inexpensive _______ (insert your noise color here; white, brown, pink, etc.) noise generator.
What Noise Machine does is simple. It generates a background noise which helps your mind mask all the other environmental noises around you so you can focus and concentrate on the job at hand (or, simply sleep better).
Noise Machine lives in your Mac’s Menubar and gives you all the controls you need from one location.
Click the Noise Machine icon and select a sound from the Sounds menu. Click the arrow to play. Click Output To to set the output sound. The slider bar controls the volume.
Noise Machine does more than generate background sounds to offset the environmental sounds. It also gives you a number of natural and artificial soundscapes to match your mood. Those sounds range from relaxing to energizing.
This is a good app for home or office cubicle and is effective even when placed near where you sleep at night. Noise Machine doesn’t have any where near the functions or options of my favorite sound generator, Sonic Mood, but is priced much less, and easier to manage.
