As drawing and painting apps go, Psykopaint isn’t the least expensive Mac app on the block, but– just like a psycho– it’s capable of doing what isn’t easily done by the average app.
Psykopaint doesn’t care if you have talent or experience. Grab a photo from iPhoto, drop it into Psykopaint, and within a few minutes you’ll be able to create artistic madness in the style of abstract, impressionist, pointillist, cubist, or mix and match for a truly unique and crazy style.
A crazy styled photo is worth a thousand words.
Use the pop up tool palette to apply styles from painting masters of yesteryear but instantly.
The tools are not difficult to learn, but take some time to master. The sliders change settings but don’t have numerical counterparts.
Brushes are varied and colors are infinite. Highly creative designs are possible by using multiple layers and styles.
Or, instead of modifying a photo, you can just go crazy with a unique and original design.
Psykopaint comes with half a dozen brushes plus spraycan, ribbons, cannon, eraser, pointilist, and knife. Presets make it easy to get started using familiar painting styles from classic artists; 72 in total, including Monet, Van Gogh, Renoir.
Photos can be colorized with effects and layers can be blended similar to what Photoshop users can do. Psykopaint is a bit unlike most photo enhancement apps, and not easily mastered, but the results speak for themselves.
