I worry about a day in the future when all toys are digital. Think about LEGOs. Those little plastic bricks are fun for kids but can also cost enough to pay for a private education. A digital version of bricks for the Mac is free. Photobricks is this crazy easy tool that looks like a customized LEGO creator on the Mac’s screen.
What Photobricks does is somewhat unique. It captures photos and turns them into LEGO-like mosaic bricks.
It takes no time at all to grab a photo and pop it into Photobricks and create a mosaic image. That’s when the fun begins.
Photobricks has tools to customize and crop and change the color of individual bricks within the image.
Completed LEGO-like moasic images can be shared as a PDF file, printed, or saved as an image file. It uses fullscreen support in OS X Lion and Mountain Lion as well as Resume. Each mosaic can be up to 200 by 200 LEGO units.
What do you get in the end?
There’s no other way to put it. The images are basically LEGOized photos which, as you’d expect, are somewhat crude and clunky, but certainly different.
