One of my all time favorite iPhone apps is called Facetune. There’s no easier, faster, or less expensive way to take an average portrait photo and turn it into that ‘magazine photo‘ look. Mac users can get similar results with Beautune, a Mac app which performs makeup magic on photos.
This clever app applies makeup tools to portraits starting with a foundation brush which gives skin tone an even and smooth look. Add digital blush to highlight cheekbones. Even lines, dark circles, and wrinkles can be removed or reduced with a few clicks.
Beautune gives you tools for three basic physical sections– Face, Eyes, Mouth. Advanced provide additional editing options, but all tools work together as a digital makeup app.
Options are even named after physical makeup– Foundation, Smooth, Wrinkle Remover, Blemish Fix, and Blush Boost, each of which is easily applied to a portrait and adjusted with simple slider bars.
Few photo enhancement apps are as fun to use as Beautune. Teeth are easily whitened and lip color easily changed or boosted. Also included are tools for eye shadow and mascara, plus a bunch of filters and frames for a finished product to share with others or online.
Photos can be shared via email, added to iPhoto, uploaded to Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr. Beautune is more expensive than Facetune for iOS, but the tools have more granular options and editing on a Mac screen is decidedly easier than an iPhone’s screen.
