Web graphic design brings with it certain occupational hazards. For example, how many color pickers or color management tools does one really, truly need? That I have more than I need is a foregone conclusion. That I’m willing to buy another one with a cool name is probably indicative of some psychological flaw that is massaged by collections of Mac utilities.
Coolorus is a Mac color picker, color wheel, color palette management tool that works well with Adobe’s Creative Suite and Cloud apps, but also other apps and anyone who stoops so low as to use Apple’s native color picker.
Maybe I’m just partial to apps with bright, flashy colors.
Otherwise, Coolorus has a number of handy features and benefits that make it a good choice over lesser color pickers and color wheel apps. It works in graphic apps beyond Adobe (a growing number, thanks to Adobe’s new app rental scheme).
HSV color space is available in triangle or square. Coolorus comes with six basic color schemes so you get a better understanding of color relationships, and the swatch module is to die for (not really, but it’s handy).
Keyboard shortcuts give you power user efficiency, and Coolorus comes with two modes– simple, for folks like me. And, full spectrum for color addicts who know what they’re doing. As color wheel utilities go, Coolorus is priced about average, but as a color picker it’s a bit expensive, though palette management makes it a worthy addition.
