Every now and then I come across a new Mac app which is so cool that I ask, ‘Why didn’t anybody think of that before?‘ That’s exactly what happened when I saw Chalkspiration, an inspirational Mac photo app which is so clever it’s obvious.
We’ve seen photo enhancement apps for the Mac which convert a photo into an artist’s drawing, or an oil or water color painting, but chalk?
That’s what Chalkspiration does. Think chalkboard drawing, chalkboard art, but from your own photos.
Sidebar controls give you options for chalk density, line strokes, and even the color of chalk (sidewalk chalk comes in many colors these days).
There’s even a built-in library of artistic flourishes and embellishments to dress up the photo-cum-chalk art.
Chalkspiration includes two chalk styles, banners, and dividers. You can even add chalk text to a photo. Backgrounds include a variety of dusty blackboards.
This isn’t the kind of app you’ll use everyday (unless you’re really, truly, deeply in love with chalk art) but it can take boring photos and turn them into clever, artistic, memorable works of art.
