Android’s latest version is called Marshmallow. Kyle Wiggers:
Android 6.0 Marshmallow is finally upon us, which means manufacturers are in a rush to determine which of their phones will be bestowed with Google’s latest version of its mobile operating system … and which will be shunned. There are bound to be casualties, but most of the big-name phones will get the update.
That’s actually false. A few of the more recent big name smartphones might get upgraded to Marshmallow, which came out about the same time as Apple’s iOS 9, which now runs on more than 70-percent of Apple’s iPhones and iPads. Marshmallow? It runs on less than 1-percent of Android devices. The most popular version is on 27-percent of Android devices; KitKat which was launched two years ago in 2013.
For most Android device owners the best way to get the latest and greatest is to buy an iPhone or an iPad.
