That was the speed that police radar clocked a Camaro going down Highway 61 in Minnesota. Fox:
A policeman patrolling the Duluth-Two Harbors expressway in Minnesota on Friday evening had to give chase when his radar gun registered a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS doing 171 mph on the divided four-lane road
I can see police giving chase to 80-mph, or 100-mph, but at 171-mph, what’s the point?
It was the fastest speed the officer had ever seen, and he needed to accelerate his Dodge Charger Pursuit car up to 135 mph just to get close enough for the speed demon to see his lights.
The math doesn’t work. At 171-mph how far down the road has the speeder gone before the police get up to a speed where they can be seen in the review mirror.
As soon as he realized the law was on his tail, the unidentified 36-year-old driver slowed down and pulled over without incident.
Up to 90-days in jail, a $1,000 fine, and loss of license.
