Natalia Nowak on turning an iPad Pro into a Mac:
Is there a single device from Apple’s product line that can do it all? No. iPhone doesn’t have the screen real estate of the Mac. iPad doesn’t have a built-in cellphone. The Mac just isn’t as mobile as either iOS device. My attempts to pull functionality away from the Mac onto Apple’s ever more mobile devices is an ongoing process.
So, what’s the ‘Almost Mac Of The Future?‘
An iPad Pro sitting on a small but sturdy aluminum stand with a Bluetooth keyboard. The whole shebang fits into an iPad Pro case and weighs less and costs than an iPad Pro with Apple’s SmartKeyboard which isn’t smart enough to cover the back of the iPad.
I’ve done exactly the same thing with a different keyboard and different brand stand, but the effect is much the same. One the stand and with the keyboard, iPad Pro is like a Mac notebook but with a touch screen. Then, to use the iPad Pro as a mobile device, just lift it off the stand and go.
I would pay for a Mac notebook that could do the same.
