Ben Lovejoy has a few ways to help Apple solve the MacBook Pro ‘problem.’
I still hear complaints today from professionals who value upgradability and battery-life over sleekness, and seeing someone yesterday using a 17-inch MacBook Pro – like the one I used for many years – did make me feel nostalgic for it. And it occurred to me that there is a way for Apple to keep everyone happy.
It does seem strange that Apple will send tens of billions in dividends to undeserving shareholders and leave nothing on the table to upgrade the Mac.
Ben sees three Mac notebooks in the lineup:
- MacBook: entry-level machines at a relatively affordable price
- MacBook Exec: the machine that is the current MacBook Pro
- MacBook Pro: a modern version of the classic, upgradable machines
